u15A Pre-Season Report 2012

DSC_3456

During the term, there were two days a week of pre – season training: Thursday s were the conditioning days, with Ross Williams, that took place mainly in the gym. These were well supported by the boys who did not do sport on that day. The Friday practices were mainly for me to get to know the boys better , and also to get some idea of their skill level. The practice was better... Read More

15A Year End Report

IMG_2910_1273x1909

Played Won Drew Lost Points for Points Against Points Difference 16 4 1 11 114 316 202   The 15A Rugby Squad has great potential to be a very good team, but they are still really lacking in confidence to really make a difference at this stage. The only team that we really improved against results wise was Paul Roos, where in U14 they lost 0-64 and then this year... Read More

u15A Match Report vs Wynberg

This game proved to be the worst of the season for the team and with 53% missed tackles you can understand why. The players now need to really work on their upper body strength and take what they have been shown over and over about tackling and defense and put it into practice. Stuart Black and I have really enjoyed coaching this side this year and I wish them all the best for U16.... Read More

u15A Match Report vs Bishops

Once again our missed tackles let us down. One cannot expect to win games with a 43% missed tackle rate. Our defensive system was sound, but when a Bishops player can slip 3 tackles, then that certainly is going to hurt. SACS managed a wonderfully worked try with Jesse Abrahams finishing well to score under the poles. But Bishops number 8 Saud Abrahams was too much for our boys... Read More

u15A Match Report vs Rondebosch

Nobody likes a draw. But at the end of the day, that’s what we had to accept. SACS had the better first half and were 12-0 up at the break. The boys were warned about losing concentration and going to sleep against Bosch who have a never-say-die attitude. Defensively we were looking good, but a wrong decision to go for a kick 22m drop kick cost us 5 points, plus a turnover ball... Read More

u15A Match Report vs Brackenfell

It is always tough going out to these schools for the boys as they battle to switch on from the start. Brackenfell played well and defended extremely well. Keagan de Villiers scored a wonderful individualistic try late in the first half, but poor defense cost us yet again. The game plan in the second half was to simply use the forwards to hit the ball up around the ruck fringes,... Read More

u15A Match Report vs Wynberg

Our team came up against a very tidy Wynberg side who played some wonderful structured rugby. Everything that we went through in terms of defense fell apart on the day. I think this is down to the lads simply playing with a lot of passion. Instead of looking up on defense, we were chasing rucks again. Wynberg created some nicely worked tries by sucking us in on defense and then... Read More

u15A Match Report vs Primrose

We started the game well with the game plan making an impact, but then tried some long passes and made many handling errors. The breakdown was poorly contested in the first half and Primrose collected a split ball from a porr pass and ran 50m to score under the poles. Half time came and along with this a new enthusiasm to keep it simple. The first try came from debutant Justin Williams... Read More

u15A Match Report vs De Kuilen

Well done to De Kuilen on a good victory on Saturday. They put pressure on our backline who could not hold onto the wet ball. OUr tackle stats were poor, not so much missed tackles, but simply the amount of tackles (only38). My concern is more the decision making according to the conditions and the game plan instructed. In wet conditions, one needs to tighten up and hold onto the... Read More

U15A Match Report vs Paul Roos

An epic battle in the last 10 minutes as the team camped in their 22m area. Unfortunately we could not score. But it was the 3 soft tries conceded in the game that really hurt us. The first from a quick tap penalty when the boys turned their backs on the opposition. The second was a kick through where our full back should have kicked it into touch and there player hacked it through... Read More
