11a vs Paarl Boys
We won the toss and decided to kick off. We were up to a great start playing within their half. They kept kicking the ball, but with an excellent skills from our full back, Kyle Tappen, we kept the ball in their half. We certainly dominated this half, but were unable to score. Therefore, at half time, the score was 0-0.
The pressure was on, and after an encouraging talk from Mr Faure and Mr Manuel, we were determined to get a score on the board.
They kicked to us and the game was on. We ran with the ball, but they won the ball and passed it down their backline. Their 2nd centre broke through our defence. They got a penalty and scored the first try. They did not convert this try. We got the ball and we were down 5 – 0. We changed the direction of our kick and got on their try line. Kyle Offerman managed get the ball over the try line to score our first try. This was converted by Michael Levitt, putting us in the lead by 2 points. They kicked and got the ball back. They got a penalty, right in front of the posts, and got it over. The score was 8 – 7 to Paarl. With 5 min to go we had the determination and strength to fight back and we decided that we were not going to loose. We got a penalty on their 10 meter line. The kick was a tremendously hard kick, with a distance of 40 meters to kick, bare foot! It found it’s mark and Michael Levit was by far the best kicker in U 11 teams. With a try saving tackle in the last minute, we won the game 10 – 8 to SACS.
Special mention to Michael Levitt for his outstanding kick and a welcome back to Devon Jeary who played an outstanding match after being off from a broken collar bone .
