11b vs WPPS
SACS played Wetpups on their home ground at the Douglas Murray field on Saturday. A strong northwester and a chill in the air saw most of the parents wearing their winter woollies. SACS started aggressively putting pressure on Wetpups from the start. Wetpups held up a strong defence, but Jo van Heerden still managed to score under the poles. Matt McKenzie slotted the conversion taking the score to 7-0. The forwards continued to dominate the scrums and rucks, until Matt Paul scored in the corner. An unsuccessful conversion by Matt McKenzie took the score to 12-0.
The second half saw SACS come back even more confident, with Matt McKenzie scoring a try to take the score to 17-0. A further try by Ryan Silberbauer and a conversion by Ross Nell took the score to 24-0.
SACS thought they had this game in the bag, until Wetpups’ Luca Heffer broke through the SACS defence for a first try. The final whistle blew giving SACS a 24-5 victory.
Well played boys! Keep up the spirit for our game against Worcester on Wednesday.
