12b match report against Wynberg
SACS UNDER 12B v WYNBERG UNDER 12B
20 June 2015
It was a perfect sunny day for rugby as we arrived for our last game of the term at home against Wynberg. Once again we had a few changes to the team, especially in our forwards, with some changes in players and changes in positions.
We kicked off towards the school and put them under pressure as we tackled hard and ran well with the ball. After ten minutes we put the important first points on the scoreboard as James Milne ran strongly across the field to touch down in the left hand corner. It was a difficult kick and we just missed the conversion. 5-0 to SACS.
Wynberg fought back and soon managed to break through our line to score under the posts. The conversion was easy, leaving the score at 5 – 7. We picked ourselves up well and after a good attacking spell Ross did well to pick up the ball and drive over near the posts. He got up and kicked over the conversion to give us a 12-7 lead at half time.
The second half was closely fought and we managed to do a lot of attacking but at times we also had to be strong in defence as Wynberg tried to fight back. With five minutes to go we won a lineout on their 10-meter line. We won the ball and did well to keep the ball in hand and start a rolling maul. We kept the ball under control and pushed forward over the 22-meter line. As Wynberg could not stop us we kept pushing and eventually we moved the ball back to Oliver who touched down as we pushed over the try line for a great team try.
We just missed the conversion and Wynberg came back at us for the last few minutes but we tackled well and held on for a great win.
The final score was 17 – 7. Well done to the team for a great game and thank-you to our coaches for getting us ready for a tough game and giving us great support..
