FIRST WEEKEND OF RUGBY FOR SACS

 In LATEST NEWS

The final weekend of the first term promises to be an exciting one as all the SACS A-teams are in action. The U14A, U15A and U16A are in action at the Brackenfell Sports Day while the 1stXV travel out to Stellenbosch for the Paul Roos 150th Rugby Day where they play Langenhoven Gimnasium.

The 1stXV produced a disappointing error-ridden performance in losing 10-5 to Bellville at Newlands on Tuesday. They will be looking to bounce back and improve every aspect of their play against largely unknown opponents. Langenhoven Gimnasium hail from Oudtshoorn and play in the A-league in the SWD. SWD have been very successful at recent Craven Weeks and the Langehoven coach is also the SWD Craven Week coach. It promises to be another stern challenge. Kickoff: 9.10am

The U14A have the red-eye 8am game at Brackenfell against HTS Drosdty from Worcester. This promises to be a nice tough and early start to their High School careers but we are quite excited about this group. We wish them well as many of them don the Blue & White for the first time!

The U15A have trained so hard they must be chomping at the bit for their first bit of contact against a high-riding Strand team who beat Rondebosch last week. The U15A had a very good U14 year and now under the committed guidance of Mr Nic Maurer we are hoping they can scale even greater heights. Kickoff: 8.55am

The U16A also play Strand High but they only kickoff at 14.25pm. They also had a good 2014 and with addition of a few new players, notably the exciting Dutchman Jordy Hop, we are expecting another good season from them.

Like the 1stXV on Tuesday all our teams are playing their first matches against opponents who have played already which places us at a distinct disadvantage. We wish all the teams well!
