SACS Rugby showing improvement at the lower age groups
Although the result for our 1stXV against Bishops was the worst ever in the history of this fixture, our 16a, 15a and 14a scored 79 points and conceded 5 against them.
16a SACS 21 – Bishops 0
15a SACS 40 – Bishops 0
14a SACS 18 – Bishops 5
Particularly pleasing was the U15 division, which also only conceded one try (U15D). See the full results for more details. The mission and vision of SACS Rugby is taking shape and the efforts put into defining coaching roles and structures in bearing fruit. Our commitment to defence is certainly seen in the scores against Bishops, but we will have to wait and see how we do against the other southern suburbs schools before we can really measure. This can also only be done once we play these teams away too. I mention this as we always seem to play badly away from home. Part of our vision is also to be competitive against the Boland School and gain a few wins against these schools. Our 14a beating Paarl Gym last year was a great start, but let’s see if the 15a of 2014 can win at Paarl. Our meeting with Headstart early this year showed that we have the commitment of our teacher coaches to improving rugby at SACS. There is great enthusiasm amongst the coaching staff and they certainly go out of their way to give the extra that is needed to be more competitive.
This coming week we host RBHS, who like us have also put effort into their rugby. So let’s see what Saturday has to hold.
