U16a vs Strand

In 1stXV MATCH REPORTS, High School, LATEST NEWS, Other Teams

The 16a squad were looking forward to this first game of the season after a lengthy pre-season. It was a disruptive game in the most part and we only played 25 minutes in the first half and 20 minutes in the second half due to a neck injury of the Strand hooker. The backs did look good at times once the forwards strung some phases together around the fringes of the ruck, the backs were able to capitalise out wide. Tom Robinson and CJ Ikemefuna look strong with ball in hand as they carried up field. Ross Sharp relished the ruck time. Jordy Hop debut for SACS showed us exciting glimpses of what is to come from the Dutchman. The entire bench of 7 came on at half time and did not disrupt the flow of the game too much. This is positive for the season to have depth and shows a promising 16B team. The Paarl Gym Rugby Festival starts on Thursday, so we have a few days to work on the lineouts and scrums, but otherwise a very positive start to the season.

Score 26 -0

Tries: Ikemefuna, Zeederberg, Masembathe and Robinson

Conversions: Milner (1), Hop (2)
