SACS U11B V RONDEBOSCH U11B – 16 MAY 2015

Our coach, Mr Chibale, gave us a good pep talk before the game as we were excited yet nervous to play Rondebosch in misty cool conditions. SACS won the toss and we elected to kick off to our opposition. Our strong forwards ensured we played for a long time in their half. Eventually Mathew Hay broke through their defence. The try was converted by Luke Slingsby. Ross van Breda scored shortly afterwards which was superbly converted by Callum Anderson. Khwezi “the beast” Ancer’s hard work was finally rewarded by a try which was well deserved due to his hard performance he put in to help grind down the opposition pack in both halfs.  We closed the first half 19-0 up.  Rondebosch came back much stronger in the second half, despite a player having to be taken off due to injury. They were rewarded with a try which was not converted. Mathew Hay scored his second try which was converted by Callum Anderson making our final score 26 – 5.  I was very proud of our whole team for the way we played especially since we lost both our games against them last year. Well done Boys! Captain: Luke Slingsby.

SACS U11B V BISHOPS PREP – 9 MAY 2015  We were excited for our first game of the year against Bishops prep. We lost the toss and bishops asked to receive the kick-off which suited me knowing how strong our forwards would be. For the first 5 minutes we dominated and after spending time in their half we scored an early try by Jack Birmingham who crashed over under the poles. Callum Anderson converted making it 7 -0. Bishops equalised shortly afterwards. Just before the end of the first half Khwezi Ancer powered his way through to score. Luke Slingsby converted the try and we went into half time in the lead 14-7.  Bishops came back strong in the beginning of the second half. Unfortunately for them, their prop was concussed and as a precaution was taken off in  a stretcher. We hope it was nothing serious.  This incident obviously encourage their team to score a superb backline try in the corner. With a few minutes left and the score 14 -12 to us, their very good 8th man kicker had a pressure kick to draw the match. Unfortunately for us he slotted a magnificent kick from out wide which sailed through the middle of the posts. The match was drawn 14 all. Captain: Luke Slingsby.  Regards Luke Slingsby
