11b vs RBPS
Rondebosch kicked off at 9:40 on Saturday against SACS and immediately put the pressure on the SACS forwards. Within 5 minutes Rondebosch scored, taking a 5-0 lead. SACS countered the Rondebosch pressure, and Tumi Asele added 5 points to the SACS scoreboard. The conversion was narrowly missed by Ross Lindsay as the ball bounced off the cross bar. Another try by Rondebosch with a failed conversion took the score to 10-5 at half time in Rondebosch’s favour.
The second half saw most of the play taking place in the Rondebosch half, with the SACS forwards driving the scrums. An opening in the Rondebosch defence saw Simon Bean score a try in the corner, and Ross Lindsay again struck the cross bar with the conversion attempt. Finally, a fantastic run by Jabu Wyne from the half way line saw SACS score under the poles for their 3rd try, taking the score to 15-10 to SACS. Unbelievably, Ross Lindsay struck the cross bar on his third conversion attempt.
The final minutes of the game had Rondebosch on the SACS try line for a last desperate attempt at a try, which was finally held up by SACS in a narrow escape. The final whistle ended the anxiety for SACS with a well-deserved 15-10 victory.
Well done to my team for our win against Rondebosch. A special mention to Ross Lindsay for his fantastic conversion attempts. The cross bar just had it in for us on Saturday.
