12a match report against Sweet Valley

In 1stXV MATCH REPORTS, Junior School, Other Teams

On a cold Saturday morning the SACS U12 A took on a spirited Sweet Valley side. We were very grateful to have Jordan Chiat the 1st Team fly half give us a talk before the game, he told us how important the SACS jersey is, and that we should have pride when we wear it on the rugby field and to play to our full potential as we are representing our school.

The game started off with both sides hitting the rucks with fierce commitment, Sweet Valley held the upper hand for most of the 1st half, with SACS dominating the scrums and lineouts. Once we settled and found our rhythm, we started to play to our game plan, unfortunately our fullback, Uzayr Emeran, injured his shoulder, which meant that we played with 14 players for most of the game.

Sweet Valley were full of running, our defence had to be very tight and first time tackling was very important, but they still managed to score a try, which was converted, half time score 21– 7.

Mr Wilmans and Mr Kirsten gave us a tense half time chat and told us to improve on our rucking, Uzayr tried to play on, but his shoulder was too sore, so we were back to 14 players.

The second half kicked off with Sweet Valley attacking our weakness, the fact that we did not have a full back, and scored 2 quick tries, one was converted.

After that we pulled our game and managed to score 2 more tries.

Final score SACS winning 33 -19

Thank you for a great team effort.
