12b match report against RBPS
The conditions were perfect for rugby.
Cool, misty and no wind on a nice firm field. We played Rondebosch aka: “the old enemy”. Coach Tom Bednall told us to tackle and give our best. I told the team that we play for the famous SACS colours as a team!
After beating Bishops last week 3-0 we were confident of another hard fought win. It was rough and evenly matched. Rondebosch were penalized for several high tackles and they were getting really stuck in. It was 0-0 at half time. Early in the second half, after several phases, 8th man, Matt Paul went over for a great try to make it 5-0 to SACS. The Bosch equalized with 12 minutes to play and then scored again next to the poles with 4 minutes left to play. Even though we gave everything, the Bosch held on to win 10-5. We were gutted. My guys played with “gees” and determination and I am very proud of them We will improve and come back even stronger. We are going to practice our game plan and improve our fitness this week. Good luck for the next game boys!
