13a match report against Sweet Valley
It was a wet day on Saturday, our first match with a wet ball. We played with only 14 aside as we were one player down and our B team was playing away against Islamia. This suited Sweet Valley and they agreed to play 14 aside. This was an important game leading up to Wet Pups next weekend.
We started well and after a few phases Robbie Baynham scored and also converted the try. We maintained possession but were not able to convert this to points due to good defence by Sweet Valley. Eventually Sech Chibale took the ball from a scrum and scored almost under the posts. This was just missed by Robbie Baynham, hitting the side of the post.
We were not able to do anything further in this half even with all the possession. We were, however, given a penalty and took the 3 points with a successful kick by Robbie Baynham.
Half time score was 15 – 0
After a stern talking to by Mr Marshall at half time we began the second half very well and Nabeel scored under the posts. This was converted by Robbie Baynham.
The next points were also ours with Daniel Smith scoring by running through the Sweet Valley defence and this was unfortunately a missed conversion.
Nathan Ansell was replaced after an injury to the head by Michael Levitt.
We kept the ball flowing through the forwards and we earned the right to go wide and Travis scored on the wing. This led to holes in the Sweet Valley back line and Michael Levitt was able to score two more tries, both of which were converted by Robbie Baynham.
Final Score 46 – 0. Well done to the boys on a good performance and special mention goes out to Michael Levitt on his first game for the 13As.
