13a vs Eversdal
It was a freezing, cold morning and a long way to travel to meet our opponents at Eversdal. We could see the white snow on the mountains from the field. We had to play barefoot which made our body temperature drop even further. We warmed up our freezing body and got ready for the hard match. The fields were muddy which could make us loose our footing. They had big forwards who ‘bounced’ out a lot so we were planning to do a lot of “pick and goes”. We won the toss and chose to kick off. We ran onto the field and waited anxiously for the starting whistle.
We kicked the ball high and got off to a strong defence. They kicked a lot which gave us some crucial possession. They came in hard, putting us on the back foot. They cut through our line and with poor defence, scored the first try of the game. This try was not converted. This was devastating for us and put them in a comfortable position. We came back strong but not strong enough because they were able to score another try. It was converted making the score 0-12. It was the last movement of the first half and unfortunately we gave away a penalty in front of our poles. They decided to kick, successfully, making the score 0-15.
We got a harsh talking to by our coaches and we got back to our starting positions. We received the ball and played hard but they still managed to score a try and a conversion. We were so devastated that the score was 0-22. We gave it our best and at last started to play effectively. We played well, but they were able to score the final try. The end score was 27-0.
Bad luck to the boys. Let’s up our game for our tour!
