15a match report against Stellenberg

After losing to Stellenberg at home in 2014 we knew we would be up against a tough opponent who would ask lots of questions of our defence, particularly out wide.

The game ebbed and flowed in the 1st half with SACS having the majority of possession and territory but we were not quite able to show the composure needed to cross the whitewash when we had the opposition defence under pressure. We eventually scored a good forward try off a well worked maul and with the help of some accurate place kicking went into the break 13 – 3 to the good.

The boys knew Stellenberg would not go down without a fight and we were called on to defend for large parts of the 2nd half as our opponents threw everything they had at us. After sustained pressure they eventually scored a good try in the corner but failed with the conversion.

So often in the final minutes, games can be lost by the team that doesnt control territory. Credit to the boys as they kept Stellenberg in the right area of the park during this crucial time in the game and were rewarded with a final try in the corner to seal a hard fought victory. Final score 18 – 8.

With 4 game remaining we look forward to the challenges that lie ahead. Thanks to everyone who continue to support us. See you on the sidelines.
