U16a match report against Paarl Boys
SACS was up against a class outfit on Saturday with the Boishaai side sporting 10 Grant Khomo players. The boys were certainly up for the challenge and left nothing out there. The second half was particularly impressive, with the host team only spending 8 minutes in our half.
The Boishaai eighth man is certainly a good rugby player scoring two tries. One off the back of a scrum and running 50 meters to score and another when SACS was attacking 5m from the Boishaai line and the ball popped out a ruck for the number 8 to run 95m like a wing to score in the final minutes to bring the score to 0 -29.
One thing our boys can learn from these Paarl Boys teams is that they rarely miss a tackle. So it is difficult to score against them.
The boys are certainly up for the challenge next week against Stellenberg, who they lost to in U14 away, but beat 15 – 10 last year at home. This Stellenberg side is a good side with an excellent flyhalf and hooker. Discipline will need to be good otherwise the number 10 will punish us with his goal kicking. We certainly can take lots out of the Boishaai game to work on this week ahead of the game out in Durbanville.
